Zero Zero One One

Slowly but surely something is emerging from the creative musical vault (or maybe it’s more like a jack-in-the-box). Whether or not a blue print really exists I’m not sure that I can say. But today it doesn’t really matter because I hit a brick wall and maybe only scratched the mortar. Some subconscious ideas came to the fore like a name and a subject matter. Zero Zero One One or 0011 is where I’m starting. I’m almost certain that a finished product is at least a year away unless I go down the route of singles. I’d like a visual diary to be a part of the album’s blog life cycle. Will give that some thought.

Everyone Keeps Leaving my Band

Everyone Keeps Leaving

Every now and again there’s a small song in my heart and it just needs to get out. Today, it felt like everyone just keeps leaving. I’m sure it’s only to make space for the people that are on their way but it doesn’t make it any easier. Anyway, so here’s a new track that not many people will hear. I think you can click on the link above and have a listen.

The Man with the Gammy Leg

There was a Circle rehearsal at Monday Records HQ last night from 6 which turned into dinner which turned into drinks on the balcony facing Liberty Street, which turned into Richard falling asleep on the coach and then more drinks on the balcony. There was a fence across the road between us and a share house / drug house / fuck house ever since we moved in. It was falling apart, it was graffed at least once a week; the most recent piece was a gorgeous pink EELS*. About a week ago two drunk fucks tore down half the fence for fun one paling at a time.** I was too tired, scared, bored, to do anything about it and so just stayed in bed waiting for them to finish. The good news is a new and improved brick fence is going up in its stead. So interesting is this here brick fence that I’m making a two and a half minute documentary about it. The site is rather exposed so about 8 palettes of 1000 bricks just sit there day after day as the brick layers do their thing. Enter the man with the gammy leg: At about 12:30am some douche bag pulls up in a brand new white Holden, parks, looks around, walks over (if you call it walking), to the brick fence and takes a brick. It was funny but also a little disturbing. Couldn’t say for sure what he would need one brick for. So… if anyone has seen a man with a gammy leg, a white Holden and smooth metric brick, run.***

*I know who you are EELS and I’m coming to get you!

** The Paling is also an eel. As far as I know, there’s no connection to the EELS I’m going to get.

*** Actually, just walk at a normal pace and you should get away fine.

Monday Records

This here is the Monday Records logo. We also have a Monday Records van. Some of you inner west types may have seen it out and about before 7pm. My significant other has hit the van three times and on the third time the logo was scratched. Lucky the van has two sides and therefore two logos. We’re working on a Monday Records website to go with our lovely logo and van. From there, maybe music will eventually follow.

Chase Nook

It rhymes with Face Book but that’s just a coincidence. Nothing at all to do with it. I was on face book about 3 seconds ago for the second time in 2 years so maybe that did filter into the portion of my subconscious that’s in charge of blog subjects and their subsequent titles but I doubt that. For the record I’m not even sure there is a portion of the brain dedicated to that… Actually, I go back to this subject every few years (nooks). It’s all over my hand written diaries (a diarist is always clean, always neat, someone like me)*. I’m talking about a calm and peaceful place that you can ‘go’ whenever the hell you want to. I suspect religious people feel that way about their chosen deity be he Jesus or Buddha etc. Don’t want to get all self-help on you but I think most people are chasing that or at least they think they’re chasing it and it takes many forms and… okay sounds preachy. I’m go write a song instead.
